[A36-45] Aeon to Airponics Bay

Another round of dream cards for the Star Trek Collectible Card Game, resurrected from the late 90s and given graphics for the first time. We get away from missions, for once...

THE ENTRIES:
[36] Aeon
[37] Agamemnon, USS
[38] Age of Ascension
[39] Age of Decision
[40] Ah-Kel

NOTES:
[36] Can't rescue personnel stuck in Time Locations, but good for pot shots like possibly shooting down opponent's Phoenix (takes some work for the Federation), or returning with a different pilot.
[37] Jean-Luc Picard is NOT matching commander. I eventually did something with fleets, but I'm not sure when that comes up.
[38] A mini-Reflection Therapy with flavor.
[39] The Age of Decision is a Talarian rite of passage signalling the majority for a Talarian male at 14 years. I've abandoned Trek Sense in this case. In case of a match of champions, personnel must get to location on their own steam and are not even forced to do so. If one player never sends a champion, the mission may never be solved or scouted.
[40] Ah-Kel and Ro-Kel would be wrapped into a dual-personnel in the Holodeck Adventures expansion, and separately in 2nd edition. I got very little "correct", but the one thing I did fix on my card is that I had originally thought the twins were native to the Gamma Quadrant. I've seen the episode "Vortex" many times since, and I no longer believe this to be the case, so I didn't include the icon on my version either. Here are those cards for comparison:

I hope you're still enjoying these!

And now: New card types!

THE ENTRIES:

[41] Ahab, Captain (already exists in game)
[42] Ahjess
[43] Ailis pâté
[44] airlock (already exists in game)
[45] airponics bay

NOTES:
[41] The concept already exists in the game as First Contact expansion's Don't Call Me Ahab dilemma.
[42] I took the stasis immunity from a joke about Dead in Bed. Ahjess makes sure you're not. This was the hardest picture to figure out since I don't think we've ever seen Trill children that I could have sourced. So I modified Gray's face to make it even more youthful, and I think it works; he looks different enough to me. Since Lela was Dax's first host, I decided she and her family were from before Trill joined the Federation. That should be correct. (Source: "Facets")
[43] Food cards are something the Encyclopedia forced me to invent (looooooots of entries). They work like this: They may report to any Mess Hall, Quark's Bar, Ten-Forward or Replimat for free as long as personnel are there to upkeep them. You can never have more than one Food card per personnel present at that site. When personnel leave, choose an equal number of Food cards to return to your hand. Food cards can have Quadrant icons (if you want fresh ingredients, though I imagine a Replicator card - never made - could allow a player to ignore such requirements). I had to redesign the Food icon because the original (see below) was never meant for graphics this size and quality, opting for something more elegant. Hope you like Neelix's recipe. (Source: "The Cloud")
[44] The concept already exists in the game as Deep Space Nine expansion's Airlock doorway.
[45] A first Food card augment and a good place for me to explain Ship Sites. Ship Sites can be played just like Nor Sites during the seeding phase. Since no ships exist yet, they are simply played on the table. When a ship reports for duty, you may move any or all of your seeded Sites to it. You can also play compatible Sites to a ship from your hand as your normal card play. The term Starship has been adopted to mean any ship with staffing icons. Shuttles, Runabouts, Freighters and Scout Ships are not Starships. Neither are Gomtuu and the Vulcan Lander who require special staffing not expressed as icons. It has regardless been ruled that the Phoenix is not a Starship. Starships are divided into the following sections: Bridge-Saucer section or Forward section-Engineering section. The cards can name specific Starships, of course, as it does here for Voyager. I note here that Kes hadn't yet been made into a card when I had designed this. (Source: "Cold Fire")

I hope you're still enjoying these! We're about to hit 50 Encyclopedia entries!

Cards: Aeon, USS Agamemnon, Age of Ascension, Age of Decision, Ah-Kel, Ahjess, Ailis Pâté, Airponics Bay

Comments

  1. I loved that Aeon card. really advanced, 7X, and good for use by one particular high-priority Character.

[A1-5] 'audet IX to Abandoned

Back in the late 90s, when I was deep into the Star Trek Collectible Card Game world, one of the projects I was doing on Decipher's Bulletin Boards was a massive set of dream cards under the banner "AtoZ" (with respect to Mr. Atoz of "All Our Yesterdays"). Essentially, I took the Star Trek Encyclopedia and attempted to create an ST CCG dream card for every entry, unless the character or concept already had a card, and I think at the time, Decipher didn't have access to TOS and the movies, so those seem to be excluded as well. I got to the middle of the M's, which accounts for thousands of cards. But the thing, see, is that none of those cards had graphics. They were all just text-based. Recently, I reconnected with the ST CCG community, some of them working with the Continuing Committee, which is still making new cards. They hooked me up with excellent templates from which to bring dream cards to life. And so I've gone back to my notes a...

[A147-155] Amphibian to Ancestral Spirits

Another round of dream cards for the Star Trek Collectible Card Game, resurrected from the late 90s and given graphics for the first time. Hey, our first persona... THE ENTRIES: [147] amphibian [148] AMU [149] analeptic [150] anapestic tetrameter NOTES:  [147] She is a persona of Deanna Troi. Source: "Genesis" [148] Why if Range greater than 6? First, it encourages slower ships who need to see the outside of a binder. Second, because those ships have the bigger warp core, which leaks worse stuff. Source: "Threshold" [149] Of course, your personnel may still be mortally wounded. Hypospray's other uses cannot be used during the battle while the Event is in play - treat event's text as another "OR" clause on the equipment. Source: "Rise" [150] One function per foot in a line ;-) . Source: "Schisms" And now: Ooh, I get to skip everyone's favorite Gothic romance ghost! THE ENTRIES: [151] anaphasic life-form (no card requ...

[A156-165] Anchilles to Andorian

Another round of dream cards for the Star Trek Collectible Card Game, resurrected from the late 90s and given graphics for the first time. A couple of Program cards, incoming... THE ENTRIES: [156] Anchilles fever [157] Ancient Philosophies [158] Ancient West [159] Andarian glass bead [160] Andevian II  How Decipher handled it, for comparison: NOTES:  [156] Probing on a dilemma doesn't leave you much space to work with, does it? Source: While first mentioned in TNG's "Code of Honor", the virus was pictured in Enterprise's "Cold Station 12". [157] Something to seed yourself? I say "first artifact encountered" because there may be more than one under such missions as Orb Negotiations, and both opponents may have seeded one under the same mission. Source: "The Host" [158] None of the named characters were in the game when I made this card (which is naturally a Program under my scheme). Holodeck Adventures would make it an Incid...
